The number one reason NOT to Vote Democractic

Frankly, I don't care who one votes for in Hartford's general election on November 6, 2007, unless of course, incumbent Majority Leader gets re-elected, some yahoos decide to make her "President of the Council" and then when re-elected Mayor Perez faces charges from the State, and then the city of Hartford and it's residents must endure the nightmare of Mayor rJo Winch. The fact that she got muscled into place as Majority Leader last time around makes my blood boil and my stomach churn every time those words are uttered. My brain and common-sense scream bloody murder and try to commit hare-kari every time I am most unfortunate to hear her speak in public. The shear notion that this bleak future awaits the city of Hartford should uninformed voters re-elect her because of strong-arming from the campaign and her mother (Prenzina Holloway who couldn't afford to pay a fine for elections violations yet is currently driving around in a new bright yellow Hummer... classy) has me rethinking staying in Hartford.

The Hartford Courant today asked that hypothetical question. Of course, the democratic response from spokesman Kenny Curran says it all (for why I'm glad I left the Democratic party):

Kenny Curran, his campaign manager, said he had not heard the banter about Perez's fate, but said such discussion was "walking on very dangerous ground."

Curran then issued a written statement:

"A debate about this scenario is about as useful to Hartford voters as a debate about what to do if the tooth fairy retires, as both are rooted in pure fantasy," Curran wrote. "Mayor Perez is focused on the real debates that matter to the voters of Hartford in this campaign. Debates about how we can continue to work together to improve our school system, lower crime, invest in our neighborhoods and create opportunity for our youth."
It's so classy that Democrats have to threaten people who would be having that very serious and necessary discussion. We residents of Hartford really need to consider all potential outcomes of the election and that will mean for the city.

Winch herself was offended by the general populations' perception of her inability to lead. Frankly, I was offended that her volunteers threw her ridiculous campaign literature on my porch. It wasn't simply the fact that it was a yellow 8x10 sheet of paper, folded in half, put printed with useless information on only two parts of the paper (she could have shown leadership by conserving the paper). Amongst her goals are to "Provide adequate education for every Hartford students" (sic). That is the first line on the front page of her literature, with my emphasis on the word 'adequate' because apparently that's good enough for the kids she's always going about helping. Yet she's been badmouthing the young mayoral candidate Raul deJesus, a self-made 20 year-old police cadet who is also a homeowner in the city of Hartford. So the youth are good enough for her to parade around for her needs, but when they get ideas of their own and challenge her slate, strike them down.

So Hartford, my one request this election season, DON'T RE-ELECT rJo Winch. Read the article by the Courant, (and if you can stomach it, the comments posted), listen to her speak, ask her real questions, decide for yourself. Hartford will not survive a Winch Administration if that happened.

Thanks. It's good to know that the cliché' is still true: "No good deed goes unpunished."
