A while back, my wife got me some green coffee beans so that I can start roasting my own coffee. I wasn't sure what I would get out of it, other than the lovely smell of roasted coffee throughout the house (ok, that part wasn't what my wife wanted). Regardless, here is my second attempt at roasting using some instructions from the internet. I used the 'crank popcorn kettle' method, as that was at hand and got a pretty nice dark roast. Ground up and had a great cup of coffee this morning.
While it's not the quickest way to do this, it is something if you can purchase several pounds of Fair Trade Organic coffee online, and roast a few ounces on the weekend and use them up during the week. Going to start doing this, as it really only takes about 10 minutes or so to roast the beans. And as usual, it does offer some satisfaction to do something like this.
