Links to local print media

Picked up the local free weeklies today, The Hartford Advocate and The Hartford News. Each one has some good pieces in it, but two specifically stood out:

• In The Hartford Advocate, Adam Bulger's story about harassment charges against police officer and Democratic candidate for state legislature, Hector Robles.


• In his weekly column in The Hartford News' The 40 Year Plan, Ken Krayeske links the violence in Hartford to the violence created by the US military presence around the world. He finds the only real solution lies in words of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.:

"We as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a ‘thing-oriented’ society to a ‘person-oriented’ society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered."
