Snow drift by MiraHartford

It's New Year's Eve and in Hartford the year is ending with a lovely snow storm. Conditions outside is practically "white out", with poor visiblity. It was a somber wait for the bus, which I wouldn't be able to see approaching. There's something quite peaceful about snowstorms, streets get quiet and natural sounds become more musical. Such as the wind whistling & humming as it blows between the houses. Behind me, the wind plays the chimes on my neighbor's porch, an unfamiliar tune created a new when they meet. In the distance, through the white cloud of falling snow, the headlights & display of the bus glow, appearing like a ghost ship through a fog. Riding into the downtown, the buildings are ghost outlines through the snow. I wonder what the new year will bring as I contemplate what this last year has taken.

  2. Yep, I'm in my office catching up on work for the end of the year. I've watched the roads start dry and clear this morning and the snow progress throughout the day - flurries, a coating, windy, blizzardy, and now, seemingly slowing down. It's been quite lovely watching it build all day....

    Nice post. Happy new year!

  3. It's beautiful out. We are heading from SODO to downtown proper for dinner, on foot, of course. I am imagining that it could be quite entertaining for any spectators -- given Hartford's no frill sidewalk plowing proclivities.
