Mural as Mirror: Artist Talk Thurs, 5/28 @ Charter Oak

Hartford-based artists Carlos Hernández Chávez and Marela Zacarías will be presenting an artist talk about their mural work at The Charter Oak Cultural Center, 21 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford, Thursday, May 28th @ 7pm. If you would like to hear some wonderful music, arrive at 6pm as Mr. Chávez will be performing with Markus Centola and Dave Giardina.

I've known both artists over the years due to crossing paths with them at our favorite third place in Hartford, La Paloma Sabanera. One of my first interactions with Carlos was via his participation in Capitol Cinema Collective's first LoRes Fest with a very touching video memorializing his ex-wife:

Most recently, I photographed him for an article about the American Dream in Hartford, which appears in the Summer 2009 issue of The Hog River Journal.
