Last free weekend for HartBeat's Ebeeneza
Tonight and tomorrow are the last two FREE performances of Ebeneeza: A Hartford Holiday Carol. Dec 18 & 19 7:30pm West Indian Social Club, 3340 Main Street, Hartford. For those that don't know about Ebeneeza, it "tells a local story of the old miser’s path to rediscovering humanity. Set in present day Greater Hartford, Ebeneeza seeks to provide some current answers to the classic question of Dickens’ enduring morality play; how does a heart become so hardened?"
I've seen the first rendition of the play a few years ago when it premiered at Charter Oak Cultural Center and loved it. It's a very well thought out retelling of the classic "A Christmas Carol", grounded in Hartford's recent history. Kerri over at RealHartford has a review of this year's performance from one of it's first weekends.
If you miss this weekend, there's one last chance to experience it, there will be a a fund raising performance at Playhouse on Park the weekend after Christmas (Dec 26 @7:30pm, Dec 27 @2:00pm).
