Call to action, Hartford! Stop needless demolitions

Residents of Hartford and Frog Hollow! City officials have decided that to waste your tax dollars by demolishing a historic building in the heart of Frog Hollow. The Lyric Theater on the corner of Park and Broad Streets is a visible structure that has been abandoned for far too long that there is fear of structural damage. The city as it's owner has failed to rehab the building for proper usage, despite numerous requests and proposals from the Neighborhood Revitalization Zone and community groups. Now, in its infinite wisdom, it has decided to demolish this historic old movie theater rather than reinforce its structure so that it can be saved. As we celebrate our 375th anniversary, we should not be demolishing symbols of that long history. We should be preserving them and improving our neighborhoods and community for the future!

OUR CITY HAS LOST ENOUGH OF ITS HISTORIC CHARACTER THROUGH DEMOLITION! We don't need more vacant lots scarring our neighborhoods! Contact city hall and have your voices heard to stop the destruction of another building in our city.

Tickets for Rush

Well, folks, it happened. By the power of Greyskull, Harry-Man and She-Pelosi have battled the forces of the dread Orange Skeloener and his lackey Beast-cantor, with their powerful sorceress, Evil-shel Bachmann. Truly, the healthcare of all Eternians was in jeopardy. And while it was an even split of those Eternians polled support improved healthcare, the wizards of spin & their political puppets decry that ALL Americans don't want it! At the commands of Glenn Beck & Jabber the Rush, the FOX sponsored Tea-Bagging Party attempted one more time to tear down Castle Greyskull, saying that voting for something that other people supported was undemocratic! Orange Skeloener's minions even compared their assault and cries for freedom to that of the people of the Velvet Revolution -- except without the social healthcare that was brought on by that or Niko singing.

And so, the world did not end the day after the Obamacare bill passed. Yes, it was weakened by the assault on it over the past years, as senators picked it apart and stabbed at it. But... it is here. When things were darkest, She-Pelosi and her Demolitioncrats found a shining ray of light to help them fight on. What was it? The threat from Jabber the Rush that if it passed, he would leave this country and our airwaves!

All this talk of Jabber The Rush puts me in the mind of the spirit of radio by those other great patriots from outside the US with their great social healthcare system.

Begin the day with an unfriendly voice,
Conservative, obstructionist
Brays and chants so conclusive
And the tragic musings kills your morning mood.
...
But so cold hearted, it's really not a question
Of his dishonesty, yeah, dishonesty.
One likes to believe in the freedom of choice,
But glittering prizes and endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity.
(wow... didn't even have to change those last two lines...)
...
And so our Rush will be leaving us. We will miss this modern day warrior with mean mean chides, today's Tom Sawyer Mean mean pride. Through his mindless bile of rant, don't put him down as arrogant. His reserve, a loud offense chiding out the day's events. Exit the warrior
yesterday's Tom Sawyer. He gets high on meds and the energy you trade. He gets off on to the friction of the day.

Help us send him down the river. Donate this evening at Red River Tavern, where we will take up a small collection to buy Jabber the Rush a ticket to Costa Rica. Hopefully he will enjoy their socialized health care there. As for us, the Naughty Nurses will heal our wounds from this battle and bring us back to health with plates of curly fries. The healing begins at 9:30 pm, at the bar so nice they named it twice.
